The Estate Planning Process
Initial Consultation
Free consultation to get to know you and your estate planning needs. This meeting can be done virtually and typically lasts 15-30 minutes.
Design Meeting
In-depth conversation about your planning options and initial estate plan design. This meeting can be done virtually and usually takes 1 to 1.5 hours. Because estate planning and deeply considering one’s own mortality can be emotionally exhausting, this meeting can take place over two sessions.
Draft
We prepare and assemble your estate plan documents.
Design Review
Review and confirm the final estate plan design.
Signing Meeting
We meet to finalize and sign your estate planning documents. For trust-based plans, we will discuss the transfer of assets (funding) into your trust. This meeting is in person and lasts 1 to 1.5 hours.
Follow Up
We recommend reviewing your estate plan every 1 to 2 years to ensure that it still accurately reflects your wishes and personal situation. Major life events such as marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, or the purchase of real estate require plan updates as soon as possible. Essential documents such as healthcare directives and powers of attorney should be renewed every few years.
